About the poems and prose:

A good poem should stand on its own two feet.  I’m not a big believer in having to explain what a poem means.  It may mean something different to each person.  Indeed, it may speak to you in a certain way one day and in an entirely other way the next.  That’s the joy of it.  That said, I do think that sometimes a little bit of context can add to a poem; admittedly it can also take away.  It’s a gamble, but then isn’t all of life a gamble to some degree? With this in mind, each poem will be accompanied by some prose, providing you with some context around the poem.

My plan is to publish a poem at least once a week. I’m going for mid-week Wednesdays, which I’m re-naming Wordy Wednesdays, because it sounds fun.  Okay, not all poems are fun, but they are all heartfelt.  I can promise you that.

Every time I upload a new poem, it will feature on the home page.  You can read the prose and poem on the home page, and there will always be up to 5 entries on the home page at any one time, the most recent being the one at the top.  If you hover over the main title of the new post, you will be transported to the post page, where you can leave comments.  There is always a link to the poem underneath the prose.  You can read the poem in one of three ways:

  1. Within the embedded file box.
  2. Click on the tile of the poem immediately below, which will bring up a PDF file.
  3. Press the download button to the right of the link, which will send a copy to your device.

You will also find that each entry has a category assigned: Personal, People, Places, Public or Nature.  If you click on the category, you will be taken to a list of all the entries within that category.  Clever eh?

There are also tags attached to each post, eg: anxiety, friendship, gratitude etc.  Similarly, if you click on any of the tags, you will be taken to a list of all the entries associated with that tag. Most blogs have more than one tag attached but will only ever have one category.

On home page, scroll past all the posted blogs (5 up at any one time) to find the search field.  You can enter a category or tag, to see all entries with that category or tag.  You can also search for a poem or post, if you can recall the title of either.  You can also search against categories, using the drop down menu located just above the search field.

Finally, you can scroll to the very bottom of the page, either on the home or the post page, to enter your email into the subscribe field.  If you subscribe, you will receive an email every Wednesday morning to alert you to a new post.

I am looking forward to connecting with you through creativity!
