Lovely poem Fi ♥️. We were on Arran last year and I felt this very much – this is what I wrote then:

    Away From It All

    No-one hurries here –

    a few figures move aimlessly

but most stand or sit, motionless,

transfixed by the steely blue sea.

The volcanic pyramid of Ailsa Craig

    looms mistily in the distance,

    while Pladda lighthouse guards

    the granite-toothed shallows.

    Big, black birds

    glide across their territory ,

    or pose as brooding sentinels

    on isolated fenceposts.

    Disembodied voices of coastguards

mark the passing of each hour,

    with maritime safety warnings

    and monotone forecasts

Life slows to a steady heartbeat

as time is measured by tide

    only the dogs dart about

    in exploration of the beach.

This is Seal Shore – where

    peace seeps into your pores

    and the sky fills up

    with your dreams.
